The Vig

I’ve found a new semi-secret lunch spot. Semi-secret because it’s out of my co-workers’ migratory path, yet still in plain sight. I get to catch up on podcasts while watching the skaters. I’m guessing there’s an ice skating competition coming up because there are three or four people down there walking through their routines. One guy has his nose buried in a folder as he skates in slow circles. A woman stops to take notes after each repetition. All the while, the normal crowd of people skate around the outside, including a grown man wearing hockey pads and gloves. Is a game about to break out? My favorite is the speed skater who comes by every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. He’s got the complete outfit and cruises around, dodging grade schoolers like a pro.
